Product material

Alloys 304 (S30400) and 304L (S30403) are both variations of the widely recognized and commonly used 18% chromium – 8% nickel austenitic stainless steel.

Typically, 304L is dual certified as both 304 and 304L. Its low carbon content, along with added nitrogen, allows 304L to achieve the same mechanical properties as 304.

Both alloys offer resistance to atmospheric corrosion and perform well in moderately oxidizing and reducing environments. In their welded form, they show strong resistance to intergranular corrosion. They also maintain excellent strength and toughness, even at cryogenic temperatures.

In the annealed state, 304/304L is non-magnetic but may exhibit slight magnetism after cold working or welding. These alloys can be easily welded and processed using standard fabrication methods
