Alloy 600 (UNS N06600) is a general-purpose nickel-chromium-iron alloy that can be used in the temperature range from low temperatures to 2000°F (1093°C) and for anti-corrosion services. The high nickel content ensures that the alloy is hardly affected by chloride ion stress corrosion cracking, while also providing corrosion resistance to many organic and inorganic compounds. The chromium content provides resistance to oxidizing environments at high temperatures or in corrosive media, and it also resists sulfur compounds.
Under high temperature conditions, Alloy 600 can resist oxidation and scaling below 1093°C (2000°F). It is very suitable for applications that require anti-carburization or in moderate temperature sulfur-containing environments. However, it will vulcanize at high temperatures.
Alloy 600 is non-magnetic and cannot be hardened by heat treatment, only by cold working. It can be easily welded and processed by standard workshop manufacturing methods.

Alloy 600 nickel alloy seamless tube is resistant to corrosion in various environments. Due to the high chromium content of the alloy, it is better than nickel 200/201 under oxidizing conditions, and its high nickel content makes it perform well in reducing environments. The presence of nickel also provides excellent resistance to alkaline solutions.
Alloy 600 nickel alloy seamless tube has moderate resistance to strong oxidizing acids. However, the oxidation that occurs only in the dissolved air is not sufficient to ensure complete passivation and protection from the attack of saturated mineral acids and certain concentrated organic acids in the air.
Alloy 600 nickel alloy seamless tube is widely used in thermal processing industries, which require oxidation resistance and furnace atmosphere. Due to its resistance to nitrogen at high temperatures, this alloy is also used in nitriding applications.
