Product material

Alloy 400 (UNS N04400) is a ductile nickel copper alloy with the ability to resist various corrosion conditions. The alloy is commonly specified for use in environments ranging from mildly oxidizing to neutral and moderately reducing conditions. Another application area of the material is in the marine environment and other non-oxidizing chloride solutions.

Corrosion Resistance

Alloy 400 is a very versatile anti-corrosion material. It exhibits corrosion resistance in many reducing environments and is generally more resistant to oxidizing media than high-grade copper alloys. Alloy 400 nickel alloy seamless tube is one of the few materials that can withstand contact with fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, hydrogen fluoride, or its derivatives. The alloy has been found to have special resistance to all concentrations of hydrofluoric acid, up to the boiling point. Alloy 400 nickel alloy seamless tube is also resistant to sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid under reducing conditions. It has excellent resistance to neutral and alkaline salts and has been used as a building material for salt factories for many years.

Alloy 400 nickel alloy seamless tube is one of the widely used materials in marine applications, shipbuilding, and desalination plants. The alloy exhibits a very low corrosion rate in flowing seawater or brackish water. However, under stagnant conditions, the alloy may experience crevices and pitting corrosion. Alloy 400 nickel alloy seamless tube is resistant to stress corrosion cracking and pitting in freshwater and industrial water applications.
