Product material

Alloy C276 nickel alloy (UNS N10276) is an austenitic nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy containing a small amount of tungsten. It is one of the primary corrosion-resistant materials that can be used in the processing industry. Alloy C276 nickel alloy seamless pipe has excellent corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing environments.

The high content of molybdenum and chromium combined with the addition of tungsten makes the alloy C276 nickel alloy seamless pipe highly resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting, crevice corrosion and general corrosion.

Alloy C276 nickel alloy seamless pipe can work in an oxidizing environment up to 1900oF (1038oC), however, the alloy lacks sufficient chromium content to successfully operate in the strongest oxidizing environment, such as hot, concentrated nitric acid.

The low carbon content of the alloy C276 nickel alloy allows the alloy to be used in the welded state. It cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but it can be hardened by cold working. The work hardening rate of this alloy is higher than that of austenitic stainless steel, which should be considered.

Corrosion Resistance

Alloy C276 nickel alloy seamless tube is one of the primary anti-corrosion materials, and it performs very well in both oxidizing and reducing environments. It can resist chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting, crevices and general corrosion. The alloy can also resist the precipitation of carbides during welding so that it can be used in the welding state.

In chemical processing applications, the alloy has special resistance to sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, formic acid, acetic acid and phosphoric acid. Alloy C276 nickel alloy seamless tube performs well in environments containing acid chlorides, solvents and acetic anhydride. This alloy is one of the few grades that can withstand wet chlorine, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions.

Alloy C276 nickel alloy seamless tube has strong resistance to concentrated solutions of oxidizing salts including ferric chloride and copper chloride. It also performs well in seawater, especially under crevice conditions where other frequently used alloys such as stainless steel, alloy 400 and alloy 625 fail.

The operating conditions of the flue gas desulfurization system provide a challenging environment for corrosion-resistant materials. The scrubbing liquid and gas condensate usually contain chlorides. Facts have proved that before the occurrence of localized corrosion in these systems, the chloride content of alloy C276 nickel alloy is higher than other grades.

Alloy C276 nickel alloy seamless tube is widely used in the recovery and treatment of sour natural gas containing hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and chloride. Carbon steel and alloy steel cannot withstand this corrosive environment. They will fail due to sulfide stress cracking or stress corrosion cracking. The rich chemical composition of the alloy C276 nickel alloy seamless tube makes it resistant to acidic environments even at high temperatures in deep wells.
