| Instrument Tubing | 316L / Alloy 825 | S31603, N08825 | ASTM A269 / B163 | Annealed, low hardness for bending |

Preguntas Frecuentes
How is offshore piping material selected — weight versus corrosion?
Offshore material choice is dominated by weight (deck payload, module cost) and corrosion or seawater exposure. Lighter, stronger alloys reduce structural support and crane lifts. Carbon steel is cheapest but needs coating and cathodic protection and fails in seawater; duplex 2205 and 2507 give high strength plus corrosion resistance at lower weight than solid nickel alloys; Inconel 625 and 825 are reserved for the most corrosive or sour spots. TOKO TECH helps EPCs trade weight against life-cycle cost using ASME allowable stresses per grade.
CRA solid alloy versus carbon steel with cladding — which to use offshore?
Two strategies: (1) solid corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) — 2205, 2507, 625 — for full wall, simplest but material-cost heavy; (2) carbon steel with internal cladding or overlay (for example 625 or 316L weld overlay, or mechanically lined pipe) — cheap substrate plus thin corrosion barrier, lighter and cheaper for large diameters. Clad or lined needs qualified bonding and avoids solid-alloy cost. TOKO TECH supplies both solid duplex or nickel-alloy pipe and can source clad or lined pipe for flowlines and risers.
Which duplex or super duplex grades suit offshore piping?
For offshore topside and seawater-contact piping, duplex 2205 (PREN about 35) is the workhorse for cooling, firewater, and utility lines. Super duplex 2507 (PREN about 40–42) is specified where temperatures, velocities, or chlorides are higher or wall thinning is critical (risers, seabed hardware). Both meet NACE MR0175 for nonsour to mildly sour service when certified. TOKO TECH stocks 2205 and 2507 pipe, fittings, and flanges with PMI and EN 10204 3.2 for offshore projects.
How does NACE MR0175 (sour service) apply to offshore piping?
Much offshore production carries H2S and CO2, so piping must comply with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for sulfide stress cracking, plus hardness control (often at or below HRC 22 for CRAs) and H2S partial-pressure limits. Carbon steel needs internal cladding with a CRA for sour wet service. Duplex 2507 and 625 are qualified for sour duty within limits; 2205 is accepted in mildly sour cases. TOKO TECH supplies sour-service grades with NACE documentation and PMI to confirm chemistry and hardness.
How do splash zone, topside, and subsea material needs differ?
The splash zone (tidal and wave impact, oxygenated, aerated) is the most corrosive — it needs highest PREN (2507 or 625) or coated carbon steel. Topside piping sees seawater spray and process fluids; 2205 and 2507 dominate. Subsea flowlines see high external pressure and internal corrosion; CRA clad or solid 625, 825, and 2507 are common, with cathodic protection externally. TOKO TECH supplies the full range and advises grade per zone to balance corrosion control and weight.
When is Inconel 625 or 625-clad used for offshore flowlines?
Inconel 625 (N06625) is the premium CRA for the most aggressive offshore streams — high H2S/CO2, chlorides, and high temperature — used as solid pipe in small bore or as weld overlay or cladding on carbon-steel flowlines and risers. Its PREN around 50 and NACE-sour qualification make it the fallback when duplex limits are exceeded. TOKO TECH supplies 625 pipe, fittings, and flange components and sources 625-clad lined pipe for long subsea flowlines where solid 625 is cost-prohibitive.
